I personally believe that groups are a comfortable way to step into the world of self-exploration if you are curious to get started, but making it all about you seems too much. You can be as active or passive in your participation as you feel comfortable, just being there gives you the opportunity to learn about yourself. If you have previous experience, you know the benefits of group dynamics and the emotional resonance with the other participants.
In a group session the participants bring their topics and we have time to work with several of them. Usually in the form of a 1:1 conversation, followed by feedback from the members of the group. We also do mindfulness exercises using different materials and media, such as music, meditation, or breath-work, to get in contact with ourselves. These could be individually, in smaller groups or with the whole group.
Sharing our struggles with a group is always a risk. My role is to open, hold and lead a safe space during the sessions, where we encounter each other with respect.
